Oh man, this is dope! A three piece cardboard chair inspired by a Volvo tail light, sweet. “Design student Luis Fernando Luna Bermudez took inspiration from the rear light cluster of the Swedish car maker’s only ‘young-ish’ looking car to design a piece of furniture worthy of nomination for Volvo’s Design for Life competition. The chair is constructed from laminated cardboard and can actually be separated into three components; a chair, an ottoman and a very neat table that’s perfect for handling Cosmopolitans. Judges were so impressed by the design that they awarded Luis first prize in the ‘sustainability’ section of the Awards. Reports that Luis is now trying to sell his design onto fellow Swedish retailer IKEA remain unconfirmed.” Check out the article here.

Hmm.. I think article link is not working? Looks like an interesting project..

The Volvo c30 is totally my dream car and has been for a while. But, this chair project….something just doesn’t do it for me. This may be because of a recent personal decline in interest for furniture design…
It’s a uniquoe concept from a really inspirational source.
You can’t beat the volvo P series though.
It’d be cool to make a table out of the rear trunk window for either a P series or C30.
Someone make that — stat!
